Deck the Halls, December 5, 2025:  A small group of artistic members generously gave of their time to put up festive holiday decorations at the Rancho Bernardo Swim and Tennis Club.

Donna's 99th Birthday!

Meeting:  March 20, 2025 

​​Karen England, president and newsletter editor-in-chief for the San Diego Horticultural Society, presented "Five Herbs That Changed History and You Can Grow Them, Too!”

Karen was "chef-in-residence" at the Lavender Fields of Valley Center for many years, teaching people from all over the world the delicious flavors of lavender.  She is a popular garden speaker in the Southern California region, specializing in growing and eating all sorts of herbs but especially lavender, roses and scented geraniums.

Meeting:  January 16, 2025

Jodi Bay, Master Gardener, presented the "Essential Guide to Garden Tools."

​Jodi has been a Master Gardener since 2012.  She is past chair of the Tool Care Committee, and an instructor in the "Beginning Vegetable Gardening" workshops, which teach new gardeners how to grow healthy and bountiful vegetables.

Meeting, November 20, 2025:    Betty Patterson del Sol and her students presented beautiful Christmas floral arrangements,

and explained their thought process for creating these special holiday designs. 

  • Betty is Professor of Horticulture at MiraCosta College and she also teaches at Palomar and Southwestern Colleges.  
  • Betty is a floral consultant, lecturer and active participant each year in the Art Alive Floral Exhibition 

​        at the San Diego Museum of Art.

Bernardo Gardeners awarded a donation of $750.

November 21, 2024  Meeting

Sharon Dutton and Kim Linnell, from Gently Hugged, attended the meeting.

This local nonprofit collects and distributes bags of donated clothing and blankets to babies in need.

Kim demonstrated how the volunteers methodically fill/stuff the packages that are given to new mothers.

Field Trip to Atkinson Plumeria:  October 16, 2025

Mike Atkinson gave an informative and inspirational presentation.

​Mike has taught plumeria workshops in Southern California (San Diego Horticultural Society, San Diego Botanic Garden, and Master Gardeners, plus many garden clubs and nurseries) and is the only person to speak at all official US plumeria societies. 

November 21, 2024  Meeting

​Betty Patterson del Sol, Professor of Horticulture at MiraCosta College brought some of her students to demonstrate their thought process for creating their special holiday designs.  Betty also teaches at Palomar and Southwestern Colleges, along with her busy schedule as lecturer, floral consultant and active participant each year in "Art Alive" in San Diego!

Meeting:  September 18, 2025 

​​Toni Kraft, from Poway Unified School District’s The Kitchen tABLE Academy, gave a presentation entitled "Grandma's Kitchen Wisdom”, using fresh and dried herbs. 

She prepared a delicious herb appetizer made with her homemade ricotta cheese topped with her kumquat jelly for us to taste.

Tour of Brick n Barn/Betty Crocker Estate:  October 9, 2025

​​Mariann Smith reserved a private shopping experience just for us! 

The group was given a behind-the-scenes tour of this historic property, as well as private shopping, dessert and beverages.
